Integrative Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is talking to a trained professional to explore concerns and improve mental health. Integrative Psychotherapy means more than just talking but using a wide variety of different media and modalities both verbal and non-verbal.

My journey as a therapist started in 2002 when a dear friend pointed me in the direction of an Art Therapy degree in her home town of Sittard, The Netherlands. I qualified as an Art Therapist in 2006 and have never looked back.

My work within the therapy world has expanded. During the following 20 years I have taught in schools in the Middle East (PGCE, 2009) and fallen in love with School Counselling. I have flown to LA to complete coaching training with Mary Morrissey (2015, USA). Come back to the UK and I have retrained as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (UK, 2020) and as a Child, Young Person Psychotherapist (UK, 2023) and Clinical Supervisor (UK, 2024).

I have integrated different modalities and media to my work but my first language will always be art. Working within the creative process I can work with clients but also work on my own personal process. As an experienced practitioner I find my role is also to mentor students, other counsellors and therapists. Encouraging others to work within their own process is important not just to participate in personal therapy and CPD but to also be involved in self-reflection through creative means.
